random life

Hello my friends!!

It's almost December!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this time of the year! I look forward to December!! You ask why? Because it means that I get to start putting up decorations that consist of LOTS and LOTS of penguin stuff!! I am slightly obsessed with penguins. I don't know why or when this started. I just love them. If you don't  know what to get me for Christmas, just find something with a penguin on it.

Well Thanksgiving was this past week! Usually it is SUPER SUPER busy for my family because we usually have 3 dinner to go to. One in the morning with hubs grandparents/family at his grandparent's house, One with my family at my parents house and then one with my in-laws at their house with just hubs parents and siblings. So we are usually making multiple sides for each gathering. Somehow, This year my in-laws managed to get the grandparents to just come over to their house for dinner. So we didn't have to eat 3 different meals space 2 hours or so apart from each other. Thank goodness. I cooked from scratch this year. yup, sure did. I know this is going to sound realllllyyy weird but as a "Cook" (I use this term verrryyy loosely.) I do not eat alot of what I cook/Bake. For me it is because if something doesn't taste good, I don't know... And if it doesn't taste good everyone is going to be polite and say it taste good. I would rather no know the truth. I am fragile (that's a complete and utter lie!)

ANYWAYS, I decided to go all Martha Stuart on my family! I made home made pumpkin pie and cake balls. When I say home made pumpkin pie I mean I went out found a pumpkin and slaughtered that sucker!! I also made my own crust. SAY WHAT!! It really was alot more complicated than I thought it would be!! You know that scene in movies where the person making a smoothie or something forgets to place the lid on the blinder? I had a moment like that. I pulled the blender to high when mixing my condensed milk and pumpkin mush and it splattered all over me, the counter, the stove and the floor. At that point I wanted to cry. It was 2 am and i was covered in pumpkin guts!! I wish I would have gotten  picture but I would have probably been in tears. haha.

In the morning we went to my parents first. Oh man I had one of the best laughs ever there. Ok, You know the candy dispensers at target they have with the little shovel to get candy by weight? Well my mom has one of those on her counters. My little brother (Chunk is 18) had a friend over for Thanksgiving and he was in the kitchen helping my mom and I. I was standing at the counter and he was behind me by the sink... Well I hear the lid to that canister snap shut. I spin around to see him popping something in his mouth. I start at him then start to say " Did you just...?" and he shakes his head( making sure he didn't bite down on what was in his mouth) yes and spits it out... I burst out laughing.. This container on the counter had dog food in it. He said "I thought they were cocoa puffs... Well atleast solved on wonder in life for me. I always wondered what dog food tasted like..." Oh my gosh. I COULD NOT stop laughing or telling this story to anyone and everyone that would listen.. Made my day. hahahah. Needless to say my father has DEMANDED that my mother remove that container of the counter.

Also Aiden refused to put on his clothes for my in laws dinner. He wanted to wear his batman pj's and that he did.
I will leave you with a my handsome little guy:
He is such a HAM!! ♥

Until next time....

tis' the season of CAKE BALLS!!

Ok. There are holidays right around the corner. You got your work party, friends party, church party...All these parties! You want me to what? Bring something. Great.
I am the mom who goes to the grocery store and buys something pre-made and totally unhealthy. This time I decided to put some effort in and MAKE something totally unhealthy!
CAKEBALLS.
My first encounter with these was when a friend of mine made them for a football game gathering. I couldn't keep my husband away from the plate.

I started out with my ingredients...
Just a regular cake in a box and the stuff the box said it needed.
Chocolate. YUM

You will follow the directions on the box as to how to mix and how long to bake the cake. I told you this would be easy!
Next:
After you bake the cake according to the directions on the box.. Your going to want to CRUMBLE your cake while it is still warm... You don't want burn your hands ....So I would let it cool for a little bit.

You can also use a fork to crumble your cake to make sure it's truly in crumbles.

It should look something like this!

You can use any kind of frosting that you want. I choose whipped cream cheese.
YUMS!!
Now, I did forget to take a picture of what the cake batter looked like while i was adding the frosting because i prolly had cake all over my hands. SORRY
The next step is to form your cake balls. Now, some people use a melon ball scoop. If you don't have one that fine. (

(I didn't have one hence my lopsided cake balls :-D)
Set them in the freezer for about 30 mins and let them set.
At this point you can melt a chocolate bar in the microwave till it is melted and then one at a time dip the cake balls into the chocolate. I tried this but wasn't happy with the results of the first few so I just left them naked.

They were so good! Hubs doesn't like frosting... so he asked me to leave him  a few of the cake balls without icing.... He wasn't aware that the frosting was mixed in and he loved them!! So, this is also a way to serve cake to those friends of yours that are always scrapping the frosting off their cakes. weirdos.

Little helped me with the mixing and I thought you would enjoy a picture of him happily helping.
: D
mommy, this is so good!!

mom, this thing is unplugged, Right??

Your the best mommy ever!!!!

Hope you enjoyed this ...tutorial? Sorry it was a little sloppy!!!

Tuesday Morning came to soon.

Hubs got up at 4am and woke me up in the process. UGH, Double ugh. I couldn't go back to sleep so I got up with him. Showered, dressed, made up and all that.

During an early morning time my husband made a confession. Not really a confession... more of a slip up. I had the guide pulled up on the television and was checking to see what time Regis and kelly came on.

Found it . They come on at 8. My husband then says the unthinkable.

"Wendy Williams comes on at 10."

**Insert screeching tire sound**

Say what sir???

"You watch Wendy?"
Myhot husband "Yea. Well I mean it comes on after Regis and kelly and it just kinda stays on."

Finally, Someone understand me. Wendy. And my hubs. Thank goodness for him.

CHRISTmas is right aroun the corner

(Some may be offended by this post And some may be to afraid to post something about this for fear of offending people, but I see this as an opportunity. If only one person reads this.. Then that's fine that's one more person than before that I may have had an impact on.)

As Christmas is approaching I have found myself browsing the web and stores thinking of what I want... Think what to tell my family I want for Christmas. What gift, where to find it and in what color.. Then today I got an email from my Aunt T. It was kind of a smack in the face!

I think we all get wrapped up in decorating the house , find that perfect gift , making sure our gifts are wrapped perfectly with a perfect bow on top. While It is exciting to see our kids, grand kids and family open their gift with excitement and joy on their faces there is one thing alot of us forget about durning this busy season. Durning the hustle and bustle of the "holiday" we forget what we are really celebrating. We are forget the real reason for all the celebration.

CHRIST.

Remember him? The man who gave his life for us so that we could have eternal life? The one who Gave his life so that our sins could be forgiven?
(But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8)

Sometimes, I feel my right to celebrate the birth of my Lord and Savior is being taken away ..The reason for Christmas - no one can say.

It's about a month before Christmas When all through out our land,Not a Christian is praying..Nor taking a stand. See the govermant Police has taken away the reason for Christmas(more like taken our right to proclaim the reason we are celebrating.)

  The reason for Christmas?

no one can say with(with out someone getting offended.

Children are told by their schools not to sing about Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels.. It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers say... (rhe same reason kids don't say the Pledge of Allegiance) December 25th is just another 'Holiday'.

We ,Shoppers, were ready with cash, checks and credit.Pushing people down to the floor just to get it that gift (that will probably be broken or forgotten about In a few weeks ) CDs from ke$ha,an IPhone 4s, littlest pet shop sets.

Over time something has changed...something quite odd sad and scary! Retailers promote Ramadan and Kwanzaa In hopes to sell books by John kerry and Jane Fonda. At Lowe's the word Christmas - is no where to be found , At K-Mart,Staples, Jc Penny's and Sears you won't hear the word Christmas at any Gap Stores & Office Depot..it won't touch your ears ( as well as at  Banana Republic,Barnes & Noble,CVS Pharmacy,Chiasso.com,Foot Locker,Hancock Fabrics,NASCAR,L.L. Bean
Moosejaw.com,Radio Shack,SmartBargains.com,Staples SUPERVALU & Victoria's Secret). Its Inclusive, insensitive, we need to be Di-ver-se. Are things they say to intimidate us so that we don't use those words. The forbidden words..

At the Senate, there has been such a clattter to eliminate Jesus, in all public matters. And we have not spoke a word, as they take away our right to share our faith...Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace...The true Gift of Christmas has been exchanged and discarded with no respect.

The reason for the season, stopped before it even started.

So as you celebrate your 'Winter Break' under your "holiday Tree' while wearing your sweater from gap, listen to me.
Please.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say.. Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!

Please, as a Christians join me and together wish everyone you meet MERRY CHRISTMAS Christ is The Reason' for the Christ-mas Season!

  Until next time....

Taking advantage of my time with little man!

 HELLO DARLINGS!!!!

Well, I am definitely taking advantage of my "time off"!! Little man and I have been BUSY!! Well, me more than him! Since last Tuesday we I have been busy!! I have started a few crafts through out the week!! I was browsing Pinterest♥ and found a picture of a lamp shade that used coffee filters to make a super cute lamp shade!! here are a few pictures of my lamp shade before I ran out of coffee filters and energy. I ended up getting sucked into this at like midnight and didn't go to be till around one AM.
This is the lamp before
I had already started applying the filters when I thought about  posting  about this....oops!

The first row done!

I can NOT wait to see my finally product
( This is not how I ended it at 1am... I had more than half done..but I forgot to take a picture before bed >-<)

Little man has been obsessed  with play-dough. I have been searching high and low for a great deal on play-dough. Who would have though play-dough would cost like $7 for 5 little jars!! I decided I WE would make my own!!!

If  your feeling crafty and are looking for something fun to do with your little one... HERE it is!! (I would recommend doing this with a child who is 2 or older)
What you will need:

1 1/2 cups of flour

3/4  of  a cup of  salt

1 tbs of  Vegetable Oil
1 1/2 cups of  water

1/2 tbs of  cream of  tartar

Now the I went to Walmart and got everything I needed for around $10. I know your thinking.."UH...if play dough cost about $7 for 4 containers for play-dough why didn't you just buy it??"
Because I spend $10 on making my own.. I still have enough of the ingredients left to make this about 20 more times... which is way more than I would have gotten for $7!! The ingredient I had the hardest time finding was the Cream of tartar. FYI, this will most likely be found in the aisle with the spices. It is a white powder. It is also what i spent the most money on($4.88 at my local Walmart. I could not find it in the Walmart brand.)
Here is what you do:

For your viewing pleasure.... Little man combining all the ingredients:

Such a cutie even with his Boo boo :(

This is what all the ingredients should look like after they are combined and stirred.
Learn from my mistake... Use an all wood spoon. Once the mixture starts to look less like a batter and starts to form into dough...Your silicon spoon will be no match for it.
Mix all of the ingredients into a saucepan. Add whatever food coloring your little one wants!! - Children can help with the above steps (pouring and mixing ingredients.) The next step I would recommend you not have them help because A) You will be using the stove and B) The mixture will start to thicken and you will need to use some arm muscle to stir it!
Set your stove top to low and stir the mixture until it starts to form a dough (5-8 minutes), remove the pan from the heat. Lay out some wax paper and spoon the play dough onto the wax paper. make sure that you check the dough for heat - you don't want to burn yourself!
Once the dough has been kneaded into a nice texture, place in an airtight container or zip lock bag... Of course after your little one plays with it!! Give them some cookie cutters and they are set. Do not let your husband play with it and make it into a ball and teach your little one to throw it like a ball. It will hurt when that ball comes into contact with you. WOMP.

So there you go!!

Next on the list(In no particular order):
  • CAKE BALLSSS!!!(WHO DOESN'T LOVE CAKE BALLS!?!?)
  • Halloween pictures(which prolly should have been before the post... But I break rules!)
  • Goodwill find
  • A day in the life of Little man (This should be interesting.. He is going through a "NO PICTURES MOMMY!" phase. hah)

Until next time,
